Good interview. I myself wouldn't mind seeing a few of those PSP remakes make there way over to XBLA and PSN as well. Touch up the graphics for the next gen systems and release them as downloads, I'd scoop them up in a second, especially that Mega Man X remake.

There are a few things this article missed, IMHO of course. Here are a few.

1 - No more hardware with components "disabled" to sell as a cheaper version.
ATI/AMD does this, Nvidia does this, and so does Intel. They will design their higher end chips, and when they want to make a lower end model, they will disable part of the chip to decrease the performance. How about, instead of doing that, just release one version and average out the cost between all models. We ...

Well, they released the 360 to early to put in any kind of HD disc format, either blue ray or HD-DVD, even if they really wanted to or cared. What they could have attempted to do would have been to release a proprietary red laser (ie DVD) format that pack a few more layers on the disc. If they could have even just fit one more layer I'm sure developers would have a lot more breathing room (~14 gigs with 3 layers, or ~19 gigs with 4 layers). You can't do it with a standard player since they wo...

Ubisoft has definitely had quite a few disappointing games that were ports of console games, I can't argue there. RE4 being one of the standout examples (Capcom game, Ubisoft published and ported, weird). The PC port should always be the standout version just because of the powerful hardware out there, not some crippled wannabe version that crashes and takes up HDD space or runs like molasses on new hardware. Lately, it seems to be a trend that development and quality on the PC has taken a sl...

Probably what we are going to see with the Wii is a lot more rereleases of last generation games onto the system, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for Wii owners. New gamers will have a chance to play more games they never played before, which is good. Prince of Persia: The two thrones (or whatever) was released, RE4, now Brother in Arms (and a few others). I'm surprised there aren't Wii versions of Metroid Prime 1 and 2, or Windwaker. Konami hasn't tried to push some Metal Gears onto the ...

That article does get a few good points right. Too much shovelware and not enough marketing of games. Lots of people just pick up the console with Wii Sports, maybe pick up one or two more games, and that's it. The casual market apparently doesn't want to really buy all that many games.

I think Nintendo should really have tried to cater to both the hardcore and introduce the casual gamers with the Wii. A more powerful piece of hardware would probably have at least guaranteed them...

This guy has to hate Sega. I agree that the Dreamcast and the Saturn didn't do well, but they were hardly the worst consoles ever. And the Genesis in number 1? That's just lame. I never owned one but I've played a lot of the games it had and they were pretty good. Sure, sound was crap compared to the SNES but it was still good enough. It only came out in what, 1989 or something, what do you expect from it. You can look back now and say it sounds like crap, but back then it wasn't too bad. Bet...

This would be a good project to dig up and release over XBLA and PSN. Great game from the past that newer gamers would love to play, and older gamers would love to revist. Come on Square-Enix, make it so.

Just picked up Dark Sector for 35 bucks at futureshop. I think the girl made an error in the pricematch with best buy, but whatever. Can't beat 35 bucks for a month or so old game.

The Riddick remake isn't gonna happen? Damn, that was a good game. I have the PC version so there wouldn't (probably) be much of an improvement besides possible multiplayer or level additions, but it would have been fun to go back and try it again. PC graphics vs 360 graphics for this game couldn't have been that big unless they went back and remade most of the game (remodel everything, etc.. etc...).

I thought it was a really good game. Not the greatest game ever played, but it was fun. Using the Darkness was pretty cool for some stuff (eating guys hearts was well done graphically), and using that tentacle to chuck people around, that was classic (if you flicked the analog sticks just the right way, you could send someone clear across the level, very cool to watch). Though your characters voice didn't really make sense (he's only 21 and he looks and sounds like that, man I thought he was ...

Hmmm, no keyboard and mouse support. Well, that was too be expected, thank you Microsoft. Might have to pick this one up after my other FPSes start to get a little stale.

Cool game. You know though, since this is coming out on XBLA it might be fun to include a Microsoft character into the roster, just for sh(ts and giggles. Maybe not Master Chief (too obvious), but someone like the Arbiter with his energy sword could be cool. Again, just for fun, no real impact (or any impact, this is a fighting game after all) on the story.

The one thing I can think of to improve the D-Pad on the 360 controller is to license some other company's design. It's not that Microsoft couldn't implement a better design themselves, it's that all the other companies own the patents and licenses to the better designs (case in point, Sony and Nintendo). The only real way that, in my honest opinion, that Microsoft could improve on their design is to license one of Sega's designs from them, or just plain go out and buy it from them. They are ...

This game is a port of the PC version on both platforms. That was the lead platform.

It's sad to see a piece of iD's property come out a little shoddy like this (even if they didn't actually make the original game, still the Quake Universe is their baby). I've always enjoyed their games, but they haven't always had the best ports made for them (check out some versions of Doom, like the 32x version, blah).

Anyway, if you actually go and read the article, it seems to be a case when you are using the sniper rifle to zoom out, the game doesn't yet remap the textures ...

Ah Timesplitters 2, the game I only paid 1 cent for on ebay (that wasn't my minimum bid, just nobody else bid on it, lol. Well, 8 bucks for shipping so you know the guy put some money in his pocket after that). I wouldn't mind seeing this game come out on XBLA or PSN. touch up the visuals a bit and it could be fun, though I would rather Timesplitters 3 but that is personal preference.

I have to admit, when the trailers first came out all that time ago, I never even noticed what people are now considering a problem. I just thought, "Hey cool, new environment and they brought back Chris Redfield, neat". It never once occurred to me "Hey, it's a lone white guy mowing down a bunch of virus infected Africans". I guess it is a Japanese team working on the game, and they wouldn't have the social stigma to quite notice this distinction.

Really, tho...

I would have paid the 15 dollars they wanted for this game if it ensured that the folks at Capcom could see a future in this remake business and start remaking other games, or making new sequels etc... All this remake stuff is great, lets me play some older games I never got the chance to play and have better graphics to boot.

Man, a 380 watt power supply... that's pushing it. All the other components really add up to a solid, 500 dollar build. Factor in the rebate on the GPU and they could probably find a case with a little more leg room in the wattage there. I had a 300 watt antec and I couldn't boot with an x1950 Pro, that went away pretty quick (bought a new PSU instead, 520 watt corsair. Works great).

I'd try to find a case with a reputable 450-500ish PSU in it just to be safe. You want to overclo...
